Woodfords Family Services has a career opportunity for a part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our Expeditions, center-based adult day program in Westbrook!


Expeditions is a community support program that provides year-round, center-based services for adults with developmental disabilities. Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are an important part of this program that promotes an active, healthy lifestyle for our adult consumers by emphasizing healthy choices, new experiences, and community involvement.

  • This position is part-time, weekdays Monday through Friday from 9am to 1:30pm. 


Pay: $12.50 hourly

  • High School Diploma or GED required ; Associate or Bachelor degree preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Use of reliable vehicle with current insurance
  • Direct Support Professional (DSP) certification, or successful completion of the full DSP course within 6 months of hire (Employees are paid by Woodfords when attending DSP training)
  • Good physical strength; able to bend, lift and stand



Direct Support Professioanls (DSPs)

  • Monitor adult consumers at all times, and ensure that they are not exposed to high risk situations, especially those involving strangers, young children or other persons, not a part of, or vital to the Community Supports Program
  • Assist consumers in the development of community awareness through the process of orientation into the community. Assist the consumers in building personal relationships with people outside the program and family.
  • Provide direct care to the consumers.
  • Assist the consumers in the development of an understanding of an appropriate use of leisure. Offer direction by participating in activities that may expose consumers to new experiences.
  • Assist the consumers in developing self-care skills such as bathing, washing hair, dressing, shaving, and supervises the consumers in gender sensitive areas such as locker rooms and public showers.
  • Assist the consumers in the development of meal planning and preparation skills using standard nutritional guidelines to ensure an adequate and healthy diet.
  • At the direction of the Community Supports Program Coordinator/Program Director, assist in the development of consumers' goals, update and evaluate goals periodically.
  • Maintain accurate daily progress and attendance records and complete all paperwork in a timely manner that is set forth by agency and state policies and guidelines.
