Preschool Teacher - Pineland Preschool

We have an opening for a Preschool Teacher within the Early Childhood Services preschool program at our Pineland preschool in New Gloucester.


Summary:

The Preschool Teacher is responsible for working with the Lead Teacher in guiding children toward the fulfillment of their potential for cognitive, social and emotional growth and maturation. Preschool Teacher will oversee curriculum implementation for all students in the integrated classroom as well as work directly with children with specific education plans.


Woodfords Family Services operates three preschools in New Gloucester, Waterville and Westbrook where children learn skills to help them function successfully in home, school and community.


Compensation: $35,000 to $38,000 annual salary


Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, year-round

Qualifications of the Preschool Teacher:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree, in Early Childhood preferred, or a related field.
  • A minimum of one-year experience and the desire to work with young children, including those with special needs.
  • Must have a valid driver's license. Driving to/from fieldtrips may be necessary.

Responsibilities of the Preschool Teacher:

  • Help Lead Teacher develop, plan, and implement appropriate curriculum as part of a team.
  • Assist Lead Teacher in the assessment and development of each student's individual goals and objectives.
  • Set up and maintain appropriate learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate daily notes, data collection, attendance records and completes all paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Will work with both student's with IEP's, IFSP's, ITP's as well as typical students as part of the classroom rotation.
  • With consultation with Lead Teacher, will make referrals to appropriate outside or internal providers
  • Will attend IEP, IFSP meetings as needed for typically developing children, to report on child(ren)'s current level.
  • Collect each typical child's curriculum work (artwork, writing samples, photos, etc.) to develop annual portfolios.
  • Meet bi-annually with each child's parent/family to conduct parent teacher conferences and report on child's progress.
  • Seek professional growth through reading, attending workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or completing advanced course work.
  • Communicate professionally at all times with students, family members, consultants, elementary school personnel, referral sources, all other staff members and other providers.
  • Perform daily activities such as, but not limited to, reading, playing and doing activities with the children, changing diapers, food preparation, as well as the cleaning and organizing the physical space.
