Westbrook Campus Preschool

Woodfords Family Services is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Westbrook Campus Preschool team as a Home-Based Technician. The Home-Based Technician is responsible for working with toddler and their parents in the home or small group setting to assist parent(s) in supporting the overall development of their child. The Home-Based Technician will work with the Senior Lead Teacher and Program Director, in guiding children toward the fulfillment of their potential for cognitive, social and emotional growth and maturation.

About the Role of the Home-Based Technician:

As a Woodfords' Home-Based Technician:

  • Provide developmental therapy to toddlers and their families, in a small group or home setting.
  • Provide assessment to young children (ABAS, Developmental screenings, etc.).
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Provide program coordination and services in compliance with Early Childhood Special Education Regulations and Section 65 or Section 28 Maine Care guidelines.
  • Will meet with families on a daily/weekly basis or as determined by family need, in the family's home to discuss child development strategies to carry over skills from the school setting to the home.
  • Support parents in learning developmentally appropriate strategies to interact with their children, to support; cognitive, social, communication, motor and behavioral development.
  • Seek professional growth through reading, attending workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or completing advanced course work.
  • Communicate and present self professionally at all times with consumers, family members, consultants, preschool school personnel, referral sources and other providers.
  • Implement positive behaviors support plans, in conjunction with ABA strategies.
  • Provide home visits, as indicated on the child's IFSP, IEP or ITP.
  • Provide collateral contact, as indicated on the child's IFSP, IEP or ITP.
  • Write daily progress notes and quarterly reports in conjunction with Senior Lead Teacher and Lead Teacher.
  • Attend ECT and ITP meetings.
  • Must meet all preschool and agency training requirements.
  • Maintain all records in accordance to WECS- P, HIPAA, COA, and other state and federal regulations.

Compensation/Pay for the Home-Based Technician:

  • $14.50 to $16/hour (depending on education and experience)
  • Additional $0.50/hour increase if hired with current Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification 

Key Qualifications of a Home-Based Technician:

  • A minimum of an Associate's degree, Bachelors preferred, in Special Education, Early Childhood or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the field, and the desire to work with children with special needs.
  • Must be an American Citizen or maintain legal alien status.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and vehicle. Driving to/from families homes will be necessary.
  • Must have a satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Must possess good organization, communication and human relation skills.
