Lead Teacher - Waterville Preschool

$500 Sign-On Bonus ($500 bonus paid in employee's first full pay period paycheck)

 

Woodfords is growing and has an opening for a Lead Teacher position within the Early Childhood Services Preschool Program in Waterville.

 

The Early Childhood Services Preschool Program focuses on early intervention for children showing signs of increased behavioral, developmental or mental health issues. Woodfords offers multiple preschools where children with autism, or similar developmental disabilities learn skills to help them function successfully in home, school and community.

 

Responsibilities of the Lead Teacher:

  • Offer input and suggest changes to Early Childhood Services and the Program Handbook through team meetings, supervision with the Clinical Director and as otherwise appropriate.
  • Attend IEP meetings as a special education consultant.
  • Is responsible for the overall operation of the classroom.
  • Develop developmentally appropriate programing for each child's individual goals and objectives.
  • Participate in IEP quarterly and documentation.
  • Independently conducts assessments and supports with the writing of educational plans for children enrolled in the program, with input and suggestions for modification.
  • Provide direct care to children based upon individual education and/or individual treatment plan.
  • Set up, including prep material and lesson plans, and maintain the appropriate learning environment.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings, including, but not limited to, classroom, IDT, and agency-wide.
  • Maintain positive behavior and offers support of new and established plans.
  • Have frequent collateral contact with therapists and other members of the child's team.

 

Qualifications of the Lead Teacher:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, in special education, early childhood or a related field.
  • A minimum of an Ed. Teach III Certificate; and a conditional or full 282 Certification; full 282 certification preferred, from the Maine Department of Education; as well as Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience and the desire to work with children with special needs.
  • Training and experience implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) procedures in educational settings.
  • Must be an U.S. Citizen or maintain legal alien status.
  • Must have a valid driver's license. Driving to/from field trips may be necessary.
