Senior Behavioral Health Professional (BHP)

$250 Sign On Bonus!

The In-Home Support Senior Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) will be responsible for filling in for other BHP's when absences occur (mostly in our School-Based BHP program), providing support in the office around administrative tasks, potentially training other BHPs when necessary and other responsibilities as determined by program staff.  In addition, there will be responsibility for working with individuals with disabilities and their families to deliver services identified in the Individual Treatment Plan, including behavioral interventions, education, and enhancement of family empowerment and self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities of the Senior BHP: 

  • Provide training to other Behavioral Health Professionals (BHPs) in the office and in the field through written materials, verbal instruction and demonstration/modeling.
  • Filling in for other Behavioral Health Professionals when needed (especially in our School Based BHP program).
  • Work with a Field Supervisor, BCBA and assistant director on other tasks associated with programmatic needs (making visuals, completing billing, etc.)
  • Complete training and obtain certification as Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) within 1 year of date of hire.
  • Complete Safety Care training within 90 days of date of hire.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality consistent with the protection of children and adult human rights.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and billing in compliance with MaineCare Regulations, school based programming, and commercial insurance company requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance quality of services through collection and analysis of data and continuous quality improvement activity.
  • Complete all programmatic and agency training requirements within established timeframes.
  • Complete supervision in accordance with DHHS regulations and Agency policy.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and training as scheduled.
  • Perform other job related duties and assumes other reasonable requests made by the Program Director or Designee.
  • Represent the Agency at team meetings regarding the individuals being served.

Qualifications of the Senior BHP:

  • A minimum of 90 college credits or the ability to gain Ed Tech III certification.
  • Experience in the field working with children and/or adolescents who have behavioral and/or developmental issues.
  • Experience working with children and/or adolescents in a school setting. Day treatment experience preferred.
  • Complete the required Behavioral Health Professional training within the prescribed time frames.
  • Possess flexibility to work a non-traditional schedule, including evenings and weekends, in both home and community settings.
  • Work well within a strong team.
  • Ability to train and guide other Behavioral Health Professionals (BHPs).
  • Be knowledgeable about regulations and guidelines established by the Department of Health and Human Services, including MaineCare Services.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have regular use of a vehicle.
  • Be able to drive to family homes and community locations throughout the week.
  • Ability to interact with, develop and maintain effective working relationships with families, program staff and other service providers.
  • Good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer skills to include proficiency in: Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling and punctuation usage
  • Appropriate communication skills, in person, via e-mail and during telephone use
